Ceremony Venue

Picture
Our ceremony venue is Fort Popham Historical Site in Phippsburg, Maine. The fort was originally built during the Civil War to protect Augusta, Maine's capital city, from the confederate navy. The fort sits on the mouth of the Kennebec River and is surrounded by ocean on three sides. It is possible to see two lighthouses from the fort, and guests will also be able to watch lobster boats floating around. The fort itself is made up of corridors and archways, so in the event of rain, we have a place to go. Hopefully, our special day will be full of sunshine, in which case, the ceremony will take place in the parade ground.

I came across a picture of Fort Popham set up for a wedding one day on google images. This is pretty much how we want to set everything up for our ceremony. The only differences are the chairs will be brown to blend in with the surroundings better, we will have shepherd's hooks at every other row with flower cones, and there will either be and arch or two arrangements to designate where Tom and I will stand during the ceremony.
