Accessories

Originally I was only going to make my veil, and the only reason i was going to do that was because veils are really easy to make, I just want a simple one, and I can't justify spending a lot of money for a piece of tulle that literally costs $1.99/yard. Creativity got the best of me, so now I am also making my jewelry and garter.

Veil

Picture
I made my veil with several yards of ivory bridal illusion tulle and a silver comb. I simply trimmed the tulle to the desired length, gathered the top, and hand stitched it onto a comb. I brought the veil with me when I ordered my dress, and the seamstress trimmed my veil to perfectly match the train of my dress. She also suggested that I use pearls to cover the raw edge of tulle on the comb, which I did with two strings of pearls and crystals. I am really happy with how my veil came out, I can't wait until my first dress fitting so that I can get a picture of my veil with my dress.

Bridal Jewelry

I handmade my wedding jewelry. I wanted pearls, but I wanted to incorporate crystal as well to match my dress. The finished product is a matching set of a necklace, bracelet, and earrings. The bracelet has a crystal charm that is engraved with an "H," which is the first letter of my maiden name.

Pearl Bobby Pins

I stressed over the perfect hair accessory to go along with my veil, and after searching around online I became inspired and decided to make my own. My bobby pins are adorned with three pearls and silver wire, they are intricate and pretty. I absolutely love them.

Garter

Picture
I wanted a purple and green garter with a nautical accent. Once again, I was not able to find something that I liked at a price I was willing to pay, so I made my own. I made two garters (one to toss, one to keep) out of 3" ribbon and ivory lace. They are decorated with pearls, a green ribbon, and a seashell. The best part is the elastic is completely inside the ribbon, so it is very comfortable to wear.

Personalized Hangers

Picture
This was one of the first projects that I decided I wanted to try at some point. I used 12 gauge florist wire to shape the names, attached the wire to the hanger with small drill holes, and secured with white glue. This was a very easy and quick project, and I'm really happy with the end result. I made 10 hangers, one for each bridesmaid, one for my officiant (best friend), one for my mom, one for my future mother-in-law, and one for me.

Bridesmaid's Necklaces

Picture
I made each bridesmaid a pearl necklace that is similar to mine, only with green crystals in place of purple ones. Each necklace will be placed in a box and used as a place card at my bridesmaid's tea on the morning of the wedding.

Bridesmaid's Totes

Picture
I also made each bridesmaid a monogrammed tote bag. Each monogram is in that girl's favorite color. I designed the monograms myself and had them printed on the small tote bags from Vistaprint.

Paper Rose Corsage

Picture
I really wanted to try my hand at making paper flowers, so I attempted to make some lavender roses. I am going to wear this as my corsage to the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.

Bridal Hoodie

Picture
This is to wear over a purple tank on the morning of the wedding at the spa. The front has our monogram, and the back says "Jenny and Tom 9-10-11". I made it with a plain white sweatshirt and printable iron-on transfers.
